High blood pressure is otherwise known as hypertension.It means high tension(pressure) in the arteries;the blood vessel that carry blood from the heart to the tissue and organs of the body.
Normal blood pressure is between 90/60 and 130/80mmHg.From 140/90mmHg and above is when it is said to be high blood pressure.
The upper number(numerator) is known as systolic blood pressure.It represents the pressure in the arteries as the heart contracts and pumps blood into the arteries.
The lower number(denominator)is called diastolic pressure.It represents the pressure in the arteries as the heart relaxes after the contraction.
Hypertension can be either primary or secondary hypertension.
CAUSES OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
The cause of primary hypertension is unknown though it is believe to be hereditry.
However,the secondary aspect of high blood pressure could be caused by other ailment like obesity,diabetes,tension and stress.
REMEDY FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
Hypertension could be controlled by the following measures;
*Prompt treatment of all other killer diseases.
*Adequate sleep and rest of the body.
*Regular medical check up to ascertain you BP level.
*Avoid overweight and obesity.
*To check your blood pressure regularly,you may purchase your own pressure equipment(digital sphygmomanometre)
